Executives’ Global Network (EGN) was started in Svendborg, Denmark, by Jeanette and Jørgen Galsgaard. As a CFO, Jørgen Galsgaard found himself in a situation with a shortage of peers whom he could ask for advice. That is what prompted him to start a professional network for financial and accounting officers in the Danish business community. In 1996, a similar network was established for IT managers, and total membership topped 1,000. In the late 1990s, networks were started for logistics, purchasing, sales & marketing and management development. 

In 2004, businessman Jens Erik Karlskov Jensen came onboard as a partner and helped to start networks for senior executives and board members. Networks were also established for executive talent and young managers.

In 2007, the first network outside Denmark saw the light of day. The objective was to provide executives throughout the world with the ability to share knowledge with one another in confidential, national networks – exactly as they had been doing in Denmark since 1992. There should also be a forum where business executives throughout the world could contact one another, share knowledge and draw on the expertise of one another across national borders. Today, besides Denmark, there are networks in Norway, Sweden, Germany, Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Australia, South Africa, Finland and South Korea. Networks are also being established in countries such as the United Kingdom, the US and New Zealand.

Continued growth during the financial crisis
Even during the global financial crisis from 2008–2010, EGN managed to grow – actually more than ever. Interest in having a professional network is still growing. The milestone of 8,000 members has been exceeded. There are 350 network groups within all functional areas, fields and executive disciplines. The company is still based in Svendborg, Denmark. It is managed jointly by the two partners, Jørgen Galsgaard and Jens Erik Karlskov Jensen.
